Target Information

Rat Interleukin 1 Alpha (IL1a) is a key pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in immune responses. It is produced by various cells, particularly macrophages and epithelial cells, and is involved in the initiation of inflammatory reactions. IL-1α binds to the interleukin-1 receptor type I (IL1R1), triggering intracellular signaling pathways such as NF-κB and MAPK. This activation leads to the production of other pro-inflammatory cytokines and the recruitment of immune cells to sites of infection or injury. In rats, IL-1α is crucial for host defense against pathogens and is involved in both innate and adaptive immune responses.
