Target Information
In mice, the Amh gene encodes the anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), also known as Müllerian-inhibiting factor. This hormone is crucial for various reproductive functions, such as the regression of the Müllerian duct during male fetal sexual differentiation. In adults, it plays a role in the differentiation and function of Leydig cells. In females, AMH acts as a negative regulator of the transition from primordial to primary follicles and reduces the sensitivity of growing follicles to FSH. AMH binds to its specific type II receptor, AMHR2, which then recruits type I receptors ACVR1 and BMPR1A, leading to the activation of the Smad pathway.
