Target Information

Mouse signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is a cytoplasmic transcription factor of the STAT family, a core regulator of cell proliferation, differentiation and survival signaling. It features a conserved N-terminal coiled-coil domain for protein interaction, a central DNA-binding domain, and a C-terminal Src homology 2 (SH2) domain critical for phosphorylation and dimerization. It localizes to the cytoplasm of mouse immune, epithelial and stromal cells, translocating to the nucleus upon activation. The protein mediates gene transcription modulation, with conserved motifs for binding to cytokine receptors and response elements. Mouse STAT3 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct signaling specificity differentiating it from STAT1 and STAT5.
