Target Information

Mouse Leptin is a protein hormone produced primarily by adipose tissue. It regulates energy homeostasis, neuroendocrine function, and reproduction by acting on the long-form leptin receptor (LepRb) in the brain. Leptin is encoded by the obese gene and is essential for maintaining energy balance and body weight. Its receptor, LepRb, is widely expressed in the hypothalamus and other brain regions, including the ventral tegmental area and the parabrachial nucleus. Leptin signaling is crucial for reducing food intake and body weight when administered centrally.
