Angiotensin III, a metabolite of angiotensin II, interacts with specific receptors such as AT1 and AT2. Research has demonstrated that angiotensin III can induce vasoconstriction in mice, contributing to blood pressure regulation. It has been observed that the vasoconstrictive effect of angiotensin II, once converted to angiotensin III, can be inhibited by selective inhibitors, underscoring the critical role of angiotensin III in vasoconstriction. Moreover, angiotensin III is significant in cardiovascular disease. In mouse models, it triggers cardiac hypertrophy, fibrosis, and ventricular remodeling through the activation of AT1 receptors. These effects are likely linked to an inflammatory response and oxidative stress induced by angiotensin III. Additionally, angiotensin III may exacerbate cardiac dysfunction by influencing the metabolism and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes.
