Target Information
Amyloid Beta Precursor Like Protein 1 (APLP1) is thought to contribute to postsynaptic function. The C-terminal fragment processed by gamma-secretase, known as ALID1, promotes transcription activation through its interaction with APBB1 (Fe65). It also links to JIP signal transduction via C-terminal binding and may interact with cellular G-protein signaling pathways. APLP1 can regulate neurite outgrowth by binding to extracellular matrix components such as heparin and collagen I. Mice lacking Aplp1 exhibit enhanced synaptic transmission and reduced network inhibition, while maintaining normal synaptic plasticity. These mice perform normally in learning and memory tasks but display mild motor dysfunction and reduced exploratory activity in certain behavioral assessments.
