Target Information

In mice, ADCYAP1 (adenylate cyclase activating peptide 1) is involved in various functions such as metabolic regulation, behavioral performance, neuroendocrine regulation, and immune response. Knockout mice lacking ADCYAP1 exhibit notable metabolic alterations, including a significant reduction in body fat mass, decreased expression of adipocyte differentiation markers in white adipose tissue (WAT) and adrenal medullary tissue (RSNA), improved glucose tolerance, and heightened insulin sensitivity. Following spinal cord injury in mice, there is an upregulation of PACAP and Adcyap1 gene expression, suggesting a role in stress-related behaviors. In the context of neuroinflammation, ADCYAP1 contributes to immune response regulation by influencing the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and apoptosis-related genes.
