Target Information
In mice, activated protein C (APC) plays significant roles in anticoagulation, protecting vascular barriers, and regulating inflammatory responses. APC functions as an anticoagulant protease by binding to protein C receptors (such as protein C receptor-1, EPCR) and activating protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR1). This mechanism has been validated in mouse models. For instance, studies have demonstrated that APC can maintain the integrity of the vascular barrier by enhancing endothelial cell barrier function and reducing vascular permeability. Beyond its anticoagulation properties, APC in mice is also involved in protecting vascular barriers, modulating inflammatory responses, and playing crucial roles in various disease models.
