Mouse 11-Beta-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Type 1 (HSD11b1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

11-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1 (Hsd11b1) regulates the reversible conversion of biologically active glucocorticoids, such as 11-dehydrocorticosterone to corticosterone, in the presence of NADP(H). It plays a role in the corticosteroid receptor-mediated anti-inflammatory response and various metabolic and homeostatic processes. Overexpression of Hsd11b1 in mice leads to visceral obesity and insulin resistance, whereas knockout of Hsd11b1 alleviates these conditions. Furthermore, the absence of Hsd11b1 inhibits the expansion of bone marrow adipose tissue induced by calorie restriction. Hsd11b1 also plays an important role in the development of metabolic syndrome and diabetes. Mice with Hsd11b1 knockout showed improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity.
