Target Information
Kitasamycin is a macrolide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces kitasatoensis. In the livestock industry, it is primarily used to promote growth and treat bacterial infections, particularly those caused by Gram-positive bacteria and Mycoplasma in poultry and swine. As with other veterinary antibiotics, the presence of kitasamycin residues in meat, eggs, or milk is a significant food safety concern. Excessive residues can lead to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Consequently, regulatory bodies have established specific withdrawal periods and Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) to ensure consumer protection.
