Target Information

Imidacloprid is a widely used neonicotinoid insecticide, effective against a variety of pests in agriculture and for flea and tick control on pets and livestock. Its relevance to animal-origin food safety stems from two main concerns: residues in edible products and the potential for a carry-over effect from contaminated animal feed. Imidacloprid is applied to crops that may be used as animal feed, and residues can accumulate in the fat and tissues of animals, and in milk and eggs.
