Target Information
Interferon gamma (IFNG or IFN-γ) is a dimerized soluble cytokine and the sole member of the type II class of interferons. It regulates the immune response in target cells through cell signaling. Interferon gamma, the principal macrophage-activating cytokine, is crucial in hamsters' defense against intracellular pathogens. Like in other mammals, hamster IFN-γ is a crucial cytokine involved in the immune response, particularly against intracellular pathogens. A previous research showed that high-level expression of IFNG correlates with skin lesion development and repair in leishmaniasis-infected golden hamsters.
