Target Information

Rabbit complement component 9 (C9) is a 63 kDa single-chain glycoprotein whose N-terminal thrombospondin domain and C-terminal membrane-inserting β-barrel polymerize into the terminal complement complex, forming transmembrane pores. A solvent-exposed 16-aa "KVE" loop (aa 285-300) between the LDLRA module and the membrane attack domain folds into a β-hairpin unique among rabbit complement proteins, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after polymerization and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native C9 in serum, glomerular capillaries, and choroid plexus, delivering crisp extracellular rings and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to C8 or other terminal complement components.
