Target Information

Rabbit Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP-2) is a potent growth factor within the TGF-β superfamily that drives osteogenesis and chondrogenesis. Secreted by osteoblasts and platelets, BMP-2 binds to serine/threonine kinase receptors on target cells, activating Smad-dependent transcriptional programs that promote differentiation of mesenchymal progenitors into bone-forming cells. It is essential for skeletal development, fracture repair, and the maintenance of adult bone mass. As a key regulator of bone formation, BMP-2 is an important target for studies in orthopedic biology, tissue engineering, and therapeutic bone regeneration.
