Target Information
Rabbit ATPase, Na⁺/K⁺ transporting alpha 1 polypeptide (ATP1A1) is a 1,016-residue transmembrane enzyme forming the catalytic core of the sodium-potassium pump. Its N-terminal cytoplasmic tail anchors ankyrin, the M1-M10 helices create cation pathways, and the large M4-M5 loop houses the ATP phosphorylation site (Asp376). Expressed ubiquitously in kidney, brain and skeletal muscle, the pump cycles between E1- and E2-phospho intermediates to exchange three Na⁺ for two K⁺. Antibodies raised against the M4-M5 loop or C-terminal peptide detect native α1 with negligible cross-reactivity to α2 or α3 isoforms, enabling precise immunoblot and immunohistochemical localization in rabbit tissue homogenates and sections.
