Francisella novicida is a bacterium belonging to the Francisellaceae family, which comprises Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria. These bacteria range from small cocci to rod-shaped forms and are particularly recognized for their ability to act as intracellular parasites. While F. novicida is considered a rare pathogen, its close relative, F. tularensis, is well-known for causing tularemia.
