Target Information
Fluorescent Brightener KSN is a benzoxazole-type optical brightening agent primarily used in plastics, synthetic fibers, and polymer processing to increase product whiteness. It relates to animal-derived food safety as an unauthorized chemical contaminant that can enter the food chain through migration from plastic food contact packaging materials, processing equipment, or contaminated animal feed. Because it is highly lipid-soluble, KSN can bioaccumulate in fatty tissues of livestock and poultry, leading to chemical residues in meat, milk, and eggs. Chronic ingestion of optical brighteners by humans poses potential health risks, including cellular toxicity, allergic reactions, and organ stress.
