Target Information

Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) significantly influences sexual development and fertility. Unlike in mammals, both gonadotropins (FSH and LH) efficiently stimulate **steroidogenesis** in fish, likely through direct interaction with their cognate receptors on Leydig cells. In fish, FSH plays a crucial role in early gonadal development and vitellogenesis. Similar to mammals, FSH is a heterodimer consisting of a noncovalently associated alpha subunit and a hormone-specific beta subunit.
