Target Information

17-OH progesterone, also referred to as 17α-Hydroxyprogesterone, is an endogenous progesterone-like hormone. It serves as a precursor for several other endogenous hormones, including androgens, estrogens, glucocorticoids, and mineralocorticoids. Additionally, it plays a role in certain neural processes. Although structurally related to progesterone, 17α-Hydroxyprogesterone acts as a weaker agonist for the progesterone receptor (PR). It also functions as an antagonist for the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) and a partial agonist for the glucocorticoid receptor (GR), with potency less than one percent of cortisol . In the biosynthetic pathway, 17α-Hydroxyprogesterone lies midway in the progestin series.
