Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 1 is encoded by the HAVCR1 gene in cats. Urinary AIM accumulates at the lumen-obstructing necrotic cell debris at proximal tubules, and interacts with kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1; also known as TIM-1 or HAVCR1).
