Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 14 is encoded by the CD14 gene in horses. CD14 is a single-copy gene that encodes two protein forms: membrane-bound CD14 and soluble CD14. sCD14 confers LPS sensitivity to cells lacking mCD14. Research has shown that sCD14 release is increased in diseased horses and that TNF-α production by peripheral blood mononuclear cells is decreased when cells are treated with sCD14.
