Target Information

Klotho is a longevity-associated protein with diverse roles, including regulating aging, phosphate homeostasis, and hormone signaling. Klotho, encoded by the KL gene in horses, plays a pivotal role as a key regulator of vitamin D and parathyroid hormone (PTH) synthesis. Additionally, it is involved in maintaining phosphorus and calcium homeostasis. Notably, imbalances in the FGF-23/klotho axis may contribute to mineral dyshomeostasis and disease progression in critically ill foals.
