Target Information

Epizootic hematopoietic necrosis is a systemic disease marked by necrosis of the liver, spleen, and hematopoietic tissues within the kidney. It is caused by viruses from the epizootic hematopoietic necrosis group, belonging to the genus Ranavirus and family Iridoviridae. Since EHNV was first identified in Australia in 1986, similar systemic necrotizing iridovirus syndromes have been observed in farmed fish.
