Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is a strain of Escherichia coli and among the leading bacterial causes of diarrhea in developing countries. ETEC infection can result in severe, watery diarrhea without blood or leukocytes, accompanied by abdominal cramping.
