Target Information
Cimaterol is a beta-adrenergic receptor agonist that belongs to the class of compounds commonly referred to as "lean meat powders" (growth promoters). In livestock farming, it has been illegally used as a repartitioning agent to increase muscle mass, decrease fat accumulation, and improve feed efficiency in food-producing animals. However, cimaterol degrades slowly in animal tissues, leaving behind residues that pose severe health risks to human consumers. Ingestion of contaminated meat or offal can cause acute clinical symptoms such as tachycardia, palpitations, muscle tremors, headaches, and severe metabolic strain, prompting most countries to strictly ban its use in food production.
