Target Information

Chlamydia muridarum is an intracellular bacterial species that was once classified under Chlamydia trachomatis. However, while C. trachomatis naturally infects only humans, C. muridarum is specific to members of the Muridae family. The mouse-adapted pathogen C. muridarum induces pathology in the mouse genital tract but does not affect the gastrointestinal tract.
