Target Information

The granulosa cells of the hen synthesize and secrete progesterone. It has the ability to stimulate the release of LH. But a dual action of progesterone has also been demonstrated on LH secretion since it initially depresses plasma LH before exerting a stimulatory effect. In chicken, progesterone may have physiological effects on many organs outside the genital tract.
