Target Information

The prion protein is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein located in the membrane of the central nervous system. In humans and other vertebrates, its homologous version is linked to neurodegenerative diseases caused by improper protein metabolism. Molecular dynamics research has shown that the prion protein in chickens possesses a stable molecular structure similar to that found in humans.
