Target Information
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a glycoprotein hormone synthesized and secreted by the pituitary gland. In female animals, the function of FSH is to promote follicular development and maturation, and to cooperate with luteinizing hormone (LH) to promote the secretion of estrogen and the ovulation by mature follicles. In a chicken model, FSH stimulated lipid biosynthesis in adipose tissue by upregulating the expression of its receptor FSHR.
