Target Information
In chickens, the fibrinogen alpha chain is a protein encoded by the FGA gene. Fibrinogen is a blood-borne glycoprotein consisting of three pairs of nonidentical polypeptide chains. The fibrinogen alpha chain has been demonstrated to interact with tissue plasminogen activator. The alpha chain of fibrinogen acts in platelet aggregation mainly through its RGD sequence binding to GP IIb/IIIa, but its function is not entirely dependent on the RGD sequence but may be influenced by other regions such as the C-terminal region.
