Target Information

Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), a tropic hormone generated by the anterior pituitary gland, is regulated by the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. It plays a crucial role in controlling the production of cortisol and androgens. Research in cultured chick pituitary cells has demonstrated that cCRH2 significantly stimulates the expression of TSHβ and, though less potently, induces ACTH secretion. This suggests that CRH2 within the pituitary and hypothalamus can influence pituitary functions.
