Target Information

Von Willebrand Factor is encoded by the VWF gene in dogs. VWF promotes platelet adhesion to the subendothelial matrix at sites of vascular injury. It acts as a bridge between platelets and exposed collagen fibers in damaged blood vessels. VWF is a large adhesive glycoprotein. It supports hemostasis by mediating platelet adhesion to injured vessel surfaces. VWF also stabilizes factor VIII, a clotting factor essential for blood coagulation.
