Target Information

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for the proper functioning of the immune system, vision, and skin health. Vitamin A exists in different forms, including retinol, retinal, and retinyl esters. Preformed vitamin A (retinol and retinyl esters) is found in animal products like dairy, liver, and fish. The dog, unlike non-carnivorous species such as humans or rodents, transports vitamin A in the plasma predominantly in the form of retinyl esters, in both adequate and vitamin A-deprived states.
