Target Information

Surfactant Associated Protein A (SPA) is a major surfactant-associated protein thought to be involved in the metabolism of pulmonary surfactant compounds and has been shown to enhance uptake and inhibit lipid secretion by isolated alveolar type II cells. Research has shown that SPA may have an important function in controlling the generation of reactive oxygen species by phagocytes in the lung.
