Target Information

Ghrelin is a natural ligand of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor. It ispredominantly produced by enteroendocrine cells in the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the stomach. It belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor family and is widely distributed along various tissues. It is mainly produced by endocrine X/A-like cells of the submucosal layer of the stomach and is secreted directly into the blood. In healthy dogs, ghrelin regulates feeding behavior and energy metabolism.
