Target Information
Ferritin, an essential intracellular protein responsible for iron storage, consists of 24 subunits. These subunits come in two types: H (heavy) and L (light), with molecular weights of 21 kDa and 20 kDa, respectively. Notably, the H and L subunits exhibit significant immunological differences. In the context of canine biology, canine serum ferritin contains a substantial iron content. Its iron-to-protein ratio is approximately half that of purified canine heart ferritin.
