Target Information
Adenosine receptor A1 is a receptor that binds to adenosine. Its activity is mediated by G proteins, which inhibit adenylyl cyclase. As part of the adenosine receptor group of G protein-coupled receptors, the adenosine A1 receptor (A1AR) uses adenosine as its endogenous ligand. A1 receptors play a role in promoting sleep by inhibiting the wake-promoting cholinergic neurons located in the basal forebrain. The function of ADORA1 in dogs may be similar to its role in humans. For example, ADORA1 may play a role in neuroprotection, immunomodulation, and the development of certain diseases.
