Target Information
Arachidonic acid (AA) is an essential fatty acid and a precursor in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and leukotrienes. Arachidonic acid has a 20-carbon chain and four cis-double bonds. The first double bond is located at the sixth carbon from the omega end. It has been indicated that canine tracheal epithelial cells metabolize arachidonic acid via both prostaglandin H synthase and lipoxygenase enzymes.
