Target Information
Bovine Mitochondrial Brown Fat Uncoupling Protein 1 is encoded by the UCP1 gene in cattle. Ucp1 is predominantly expressed in brown/beige adipocytes in mammals. Ucp1 is a principal molecule that induces energy expenditure in brown/beige adipocytes. It also regulates the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by mitochondria. It has no constitutive proton transporter activity and must be activated by long-chain fatty acids.
