Target Information

Bovine Thyrotropin Subunit Beta is encoded by the TSHB gene in cattle. It has been proposed that the beta-subunit has within its structure the primary determinants which are necessary to stimulate biological activity. TSH stimulates the thyroid gland to produce and release thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These thyroid hormones play essential roles in metabolism, growth, and development. When thyroid hormone levels are low, the pituitary gland releases more TSH to stimulate the thyroid.
