Target Information
Bovine Estrogen Sulfotransferase is encoded by the SULT1E1 gene in cattle. It belongs to the sulfotransferase family and plays a crucial role in sulfating estrogens. It transfers a sulfo moiety to and from estrone, which may control levels of estrogen receptors. It is an estrogen specific sulfotransferase. It has been reported that the activities of free estrogens produced in bovine trophoblast giant cells are curtailed by SULT1E1 expressed in uninucleated trophoblast cells and in fetal liver.
