Target Information

Serine protease inhibitor Kazal type 6 (SPINK6) is encoded by the SPINK6 gene in cattle. It serves as a potent inhibitor of epidermal proteases involved in maintaining skin homeostasis, including KLK5, KLK7, and KLK14. It was first identified in human and mouse skin. As a newly identified protease inhibitor, SPINK6 has been reported to be involved in skin barrier function and metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
