Target Information
Bovine Parvalbumin Alpha is a calcium-binding protein primarily found in fast-twitch muscle fibers and certain GABAergic neurons in the brain. PVRL1 plays a role in muscle relaxation by buffering calcium ions after muscle contraction. In the brain, it contributes to fast inhibitory neurotransmission and is implicated in various neurological functions like learning and memory. It is encoded by the PVALB gene in cattle. It appears as a robust biomarker in Semitendinosus muscle whatever the evaluation method of beef tenderness.
