Target Information

Prostaglandin E synthase (also known as PGE synthase) is an enzyme involved in eicosanoid and glutathione metabolism. It belongs to the MAPEG family. This enzyme plays a crucial role in generating prostaglandin E (PGE) from prostaglandin H2. Specifically, it converts prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) into PGE2. Bovine Prostaglandin E synthase is encoded by the PTGES gene in cattle. Research showed that the expression of PBL PTGS2 mRNA was increased in pregnant cows with embryonic loss, but PTGES mRNA expression was increased in PBL of pregnant cows.

Target/Biomarker Bovine PTGES
Target Synonym prostaglandin E synthase; MPGES-1; prostaglandin E synthase; glutathione peroxidase PTGES; glutathione transferase PTGES; microsomal prostaglandin E synthase 1
