Target Information
Bovine Peroxiredoxin-4 is encoded by the PRDX4 gene in cattle. Its primary function is to reduce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to water in a thiol-dependent catalytic cycle, thus diminishing oxidative stress. Out of the 6 PRDXs, only PRDX4 is located in the endoplasmic reticulum. PRDX4 contains a hydrophobic signal sequence at the N-terminus, which determines its localization, whether it remains in the ER or is secreted into the extracellular space.
