Target Information
Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase regulatory subunit alpha is a regulatory subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), an enzyme involved in cell signaling pathways regulating diverse processes like cell growth, survival, and proliferation. PIK3R1 modulates the activity of the catalytic subunit and influences PI3K signaling. It is encoded by the PIK3R1 gene in bovine. PIK3R1 and dual specificity phosphatase 1 (DUSP1) were identified as promising candidate genes for milk production traits as they are differentially expressed in the liver of dairy cows between the dry period and peak lactation.
