Target Information

Myosin Light Chain 3 (MYL3), also known as ventricular/slow twitch myosin alkali light chain 3, is a protein encoded by the MYL3 gene in cattle. MYL3 is specifically expressed in ventricular and slow-twitch skeletal muscle fibers. It interacts with other proteins to regulate muscle contraction. Myl3 is a 23 kDa isoform protein. It may be an appropriate quality factor for determining the maturity of aged beef.

Target/Biomarker Bovine MYL3
Target Synonym myosin light chain 3; MLC1SB; myosin, light chain 3, alkali; ventricular, skeletal, slow
