Target Information

Matrix Gla protein (MGP) is a member of the vitamin K2-dependent, Gla-containing protein family. MGP has a high affinity for binding to calcium ions, similar to other Gla-containing proteins. Bovine Matrix Gla Protein is encoded by the MGP gene in cattle. MGP is the first vitamin K-dependent protein to be discovered which has several non-gamma-carboxylated residues to the NH2-terminal side of its Gla residues.
