Target Information
Alpha-1,3-mannosylglycoprotein 4-beta-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase A is encoded by the MGAT4A gene in cattle. MGAT4A catalyzes the transfer of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) from UDP-GlcNAc to the Man-alpha-1,3-Man-beta-1,4-GlcNAc arm of N-linked glycans. It is a protein-coding gene that plays a crucial role in glycosylation within the Golgi apparatus. MGAT4A has three known isoforms and may play a role in the regulation of serum glycoprotein availability, oncogenesis and cell differentiation.
