Target Information

Bovine S-Adenosylmethionine Synthase Isoform Type-1 is encoded by the MAT1A gene in cattle. It catalyzes the formation of S-adenosylmethionine from methionine and ATP. The reaction comprises two steps that are both catalyzed by the same enzyme: formation of S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) and triphosphate, and subsequent hydrolysis of the triphosphate. Research has found that C/EBPbeta plays an important role in epigenetic regulation of the mature hepatic gene MAT1A.
